Description
The Ascension mechs were built to win the war, but can humanity survive operating them?
Victory came at a terrible price, but the survivors of the SOLAR program did the impossible. Eight soldiers in alien-powered armor broke the Dominion defensive line and bought humanity a foothold on New Haven.
The Dominion is reinforcing, though, and while their forces get stronger, the surviving SOLAR soldiers are wearing out. Their bodies are failing, their neural interfaces are degrading, the AIs bonded to them are exerting more control with every battle, and there simply aren’t enough replacements to do what needs to be done.
Lieutenant Jake Steele has been given the impossible task of turning a handful of sick, wounded, and barely trained recruits into soldiers before the Dominion crushes them. Beside him, Sara Marks is fighting a war of her own as the technology that saved her life begins changing the relationship between her and Artemis, the AI inside her mind.
Their only hope may lie inside the ancient alien vessel, whose living technology could provide everything they need to turn the tide… but only if they can unlock its secrets, and the time they have to do so is running out.
To defeat the Dominion, the SOLAR soldiers will have to ascend. The only question is whether anything human will be left if they do.
