Renn and her friends were once fantasy adventurers who took on the gods—and found out they weren’t gods. Now they’re navigating a world of biomech, antibiotics, and orbital strikes as they advocate for the planet-dwelling medieval-tech “mortals” against the space-station-owning future-tech “gods.” Renn, the new “goddess” Lady Revolt, now knows how to feed (and feed off) the force of revolution, and she’s planning on using that power to help an oppressed people group no one else even knows exists: leeches.

Created via a biological accident by Renn’s former abuser, the “goddess” of Love, leeches suffer an insatiable hunger to drink “water” touched by the brain’s tau waves by piercing their victims through the eyes to access cerebrospinal fluid. There are leeches who want to end this practice, but they languish under the mind-control of coven lords who use them as forced hunters.

Renn’s not allowed to “meddle” in mortal affairs, so she goes undercover to take down the leech lords from the inside. She discovers, however, that the “goddess” of Beauty runs her cosmetics industry through these leech hives–and that she plans to spread her own mind-control to the entire mortal and immortal population. As they continue to “meddle,” Renn and her friends risk losing their immortality against the most popular power in the pantheon–or losing each other to her control if they refuse to back down.
