Join the Red Shirts

Dulce et decorum est pro patria mori (“It is sweet and fitting to die for your country.”–Horace’s Odes (III.2.13))

Sometimes in military books and science fiction, the good guys die. It happens. No matter how fast or good a shot they are, sometimes the bad guys are better. Maybe they had a better plan…a better weapon…who knows? They wouldn’t be worthwhile bad guys if they didn’t kill somebody once in a while.

You could always tell who was going to die in an episode of Star Trek; they were the ones wearing the red shirts. Now you can wear the “Red Shirt of Death” and get your name into an upcoming Chris Kennedy book. All you have to do is send an email to chris(at)chriskennedypublishing.com stating your desire to join the Red Shirt Legion. Feel free to tell me as much or as little about yourself as you might like to see used.

Some will live, some will die. Most, however, will die.

**UPDATE: I think I have enough Red Shirts for “The Golden Horde,” but please sign up if you’d like to be a Red Shirt–you will go into the book after “Horde.”

I have really enjoyed the books so far. Can’t wait for each one to be available.

I am interested in joining the Red Shirts.

Hi Chris I wanna be a redshirt. Please use my full name as an introduction. Use only Vineet as a frequent reference. And possibly the abbreviation VVR once when alluding me in alter ego/darker fashion (incase such a possibility exists). But Vineet as the frequent reference.

      Hi Vineet,

You’re in to be a Red Shirt, and will be in my next novel, “The Golden Horde,” which will be the fourth Four Horsemen novel.

If you ever need a red shirt chaplain let me know. Don’t tell the Captain but I can also be an armorer, shhh.

      Hi Donald,

I had one in my Theogony and Codex Regius books, but he kind of died. Twice.

In any event, I’m looking for a new one, and one that can serve a dual purpose? Money.

You’re in to be a red shirt and thanks for volunteering.

Volunteer to die gloriously??? Where do I sign? You can use my middle name as my last name and pass me a rally jersey. Let me know if I need to supply you with any background on my unique set of skills. Just please don’t feed me to anything swims, I live too close to the ocean for that fate.

      Hi Michael,

You’re in, although you’ll probably have to wait for the next one, as I think I have enough victims…I mean, enough volunteers for the “Horde.” I’d be happy to put you into the mix again, though.

Howdy! Please mark me down as a Red Shirt for one of your stories. Happy to serve your story in any way needed, but for ancestral continuity’s sake, if it makes sense in your story, have my Red Shirt character go down as a gunner (or ship’s crew) who stays with his gun past reason’s sake, or as the guy brought down not in the thick of the charge, despite leading from the front…but by the lowliest of all, some kinda dang alien virus…

Put me down to be a red shirt whenever. I am easy to hurt but very hard to kill 6ft 4in tall and 40 percent scar tissue, how many people do you know who have spent a month in a coma twice.

    Hi Chris,

What a hoot! I’d love to join the redshirts or for one of your follow-on stories. I’m a retired Marine tanker and they missed me in real life …. Desert Storm and OIF, so I think I’m a great candidate to getting smeared horribly in a novel. Glad to see you served in Navy Air.

    Cheers,

I got jealous and decided I would love to become a red shirt! Read one of your books about a year and a half ago and been hooked ever since! Of it helps, I’ve always thought that dying while saving someone is nice. Kind of heroic yet tragic. Keep the stories coming as long as you can!

Hi Chris. New to the universe and very pleased to be here. I love so far. Being a Trekkie from way back and honored to be born in the same year as Star Trek I would love to be a redshirt.

I would love to be a red shirt, went through both Cartwright Cavaliers and asbaran solutions in a week and a half. I’ve been reading sci-fi so close to ten years. Everyone calls me “shooter” do to the fact that I was on US Palma long range rifle team.
